All of you are still in the spirit of the International Women’s Day right? Well, so are we at Madre. So to further celebrate women, today I’d like to talk about some of the well-known, high-profile women who have shaped our fashion decisions over 2018. They were the top 10 celebrities who have spikes the demand and social media mentions over the course of 12 months in 2018, with some of the most talked-about outfits.
During last year’s September, a big-time fashion influencer Chiarra Ferragani got married in three Dior gowns – and was widely publicised on social media, making Dior a serious amount of money during the process. The following week, the demand and searches for that French fashion brand boomed like crazy thanks to her.
Blake Lively is one of the actress that is known for her sense of style, but last year she focused on tailoring – it might be a nod to her suit-wearing character in A Simple Favour, directed by a man who is also always seen in stunning three-piece suits, Paul Feig. Her cream striped double-breasted, two-piece by Ralph Lauren inspired thousands to search of Ralph Lauren suits the following week. So Ryan Reynolds who?
Who here still remember Serena’s controversial tennis outfit back in August? Her Lycra ‘catsuit’ was deemed a little bit too much by the old-fashioned head of the French Tennis Federation. Serena’s Off-White x Nike ensemble incited a high demand for black tennis outfit for weeks to come. So who dares to say that her outfit is too much again?
Cardi B has a lot of young audiences that are endlessly in awe by her bold, high-octane looks. Her fashion choices have raises the demand for a lot of brands from Christian Siriano to Jeremy Scott. But Cardi doesn’t just give benefits to the luxury market, her influence also benefitted the high street fashion as her support for FashionNova helped supercharged the demand for the lower-tier retailer.
Ariana can rock either oversized hoodies or a dramatic ballgown, and us, her fans continued to be fascinated by her fashion picks. She has spikes the searches for her favoured brands such as Reebok, Burberry and Vera Wang. Not to mention the oversized hoodies style – her signature – are followed by most of her young and older fans alike.
Her little sister might now have the edge for when it comes to fashion, but Kim Kardashian still has the power to put demand or boost sales of certain brands through her fashion choices. Kim helped revive the Fendi brand when she posted a picture on Instagram dressed in a full attire of the FF Zucca monogram. Putting a heavy demand on the brand since then.
Beyoncé has always been a sweetheart to many, but last year she attracted international acclaim when she headlined the Coachella, becoming the first black woman to ever do so. She conquered the stage with a custom Balmain yellow cropped sweater which had fans all over the world to go crazy over Balmain hoodies. Also not forgetting her pink suit from the Apeshit video that had fans screaming for pink suit over the summer of last year.
Who doesn’t know Rihanna, one of the most daring, irreverent and playful sartorial taste makers in today’s age. She has proved again that her fashion would influence the world in 2018. The daring fuchsia dress-cum-body by Saint Lauren that she wore on her 30th birthday sold out worldwide. Talking about a trend-setter. And she went to Coachella in disguised by wearing the unusual knit balaclava by Gucci that rose to demand because of her.
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex is the new addition to the British royal family and is loved by many. Part of her appeal as the former Suits actress is her polished yet modern look that departs from the more traditional style favoured by the royal family. Her wedding dress have put in huge demands for both Givenchy and Stella McCartney, while her day-to-day looks have inspired millions around the world to try a ‘tuxedo dress’ or a ‘boat neck’. It doesn’t matter which designer clothing she put on herself, but once she does, the demand for said designer will soar sky high.
Kylie’s fashion choices might not necessarily appeal to those at the end of their 20’s but she still covers a lot of those under that. She is officially the most influential celebrity when it comes to fashion choices and style. This beauty entrepreneur and reality TV star has put a whole lot of brand back in the search light by simply wearing them. It ranges from Adidas tracksuits to Dior sunglasses to Victoria’s Secret lingerie and Alexander Wang mini dresses. At her birthday party last year, she wore a pink mini dress that has sore the demands for such dresses in the following 48 hours.
Those are 10 most influential women in fashion for 2018. They’ve been at the front pages of fashion for last year and most of them are still doing that this year. But we’re not yet ranking anyone for this year, so be sure you follow them to know what’s hot in the world of fashion for this year too.
